OUR PROGRAMS

Core Value

The Human Conditions For Teenagers

Program 1

the ideological conflicts between teenagers and their parents in a first-generation immigrant family.

as one of the biggest immigrant countries in the world, the United States received millions of immigrants annually, which produced a lot of families consisting of “foreign” parents and “American” children. However, the differences between life experiences, value, and culture will impose many pressure to the two sides of the family. For instance, those parents might came from regions that have a totally different culture than the “West”. Teenagers from East Asia family usually have to shoulder big expectation from their parents, teenagers from Muslim, especially girls, cannot bear those old religious habits, teenagers from East Europe might have to hide their true sexual orientation due to the conservative value from their parents.... Meanwhile, the problems that the average American families are going through also bother the immigrant family, but cultural conflicts might enlarge the “gap”.

Program 11

The Underestimated Cyber Bullying.

As one of the most popular topics concerned with teenagers, bullying in the real life is very different from what we have received from TV: beating, locking you in the locker, foisting your head into the toilet, throwing garbage in your lunch.... Those things are definitely happening, but, as policies prohibiting bullying behaviors are enforced strictly recently, the implicit bullying occur more frequently. Cyber bullying is an appropriate example. Internet, as a huge platform provide many convenience for people to release their negative emotions. The virtual identity provided by the internet help users undermine the realistic influence; the convenience and freedom of expressing thoughts expand the populist; the compulsory and legal enforcement lack its effectiveness in terms of verbal and cyber bullying.
